Turkish Interior Minister: â€œKhojaly genocide was perpetrated before the eyes of the world and the event brings shame on name of humanityâ€

The minister said such genocides have occurred in various countries: â€œTurkey condemns all massacres perpetrated against the humanity in the world. Turkey wants the humanity to live. There is no event in history which brings shame on Turkey. Turkish nation has never laid hands on the oppressed people anywhere. But when our people have been unfairly attacked, Turkey has defended and will defend itself with all strength.â€

Idris Naim Shahin said that 20th anniversary of Khojaly was commemorated in Turkey and Azerbaijan. He noted that the commemoration events are being held in Ankara, Istanbul and other cities. Idris Naim Shahin offered condolence to the people of Azerbaijan on Khojaly genocide.

He also said that during the visit he met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and held discussions on political, economical, security issues between the countries. According to him, the current state of the cooperation between the two countries was highly estimated at the meeting.

Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey Idris Naim Shahin visited Azerbaijan at the invitation of Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov.
