Azerbaijani delegation to attend OSCE PA Winter Meeting

The delegation of Azerbaijani parliament headed by Vice Speaker Bahar Muradova will attend the 11th Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna on February 21-25, press service of the parliament told APA. Members of the Parliament Eldar Ibrahimov, Rabiyyat Aslanova, Fattah Heydarov and Aghalar Veliyev will be in the delegation.
According to the OSCE PAâ€™s website, the eleventh Winter Meeting will include a special debate on â€œThe Future of Conventional Arms Control in the OSCE Areaâ€ on the second day. In the General Committee on Political and Military Affairs, parliamentarians will discuss the fight against terrorism and crime with high-level briefings by UN and OSCE officials. The global financial crisis will be discussed in the Second Committee, with presentations from Amb. Eustathios Lozos, Chair of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee and Permanent Representative of Greece to the OSCE, and Goran Svilanovic, Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities. The meeting of the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions will host a panel discussion on judicial systems and prison reform.
All three general committees will hear presentations from the vice-chairs regarding developments related to PA recommendations in the Belgrade Declaration, as well as preliminary plans from the rapporteurs on ideas for reports and draft resolutions for the 21st Annual Session in Monaco.
Also expected to address the Winter Meeting are OSCE PA President Petros Efthymiou, President of the Austrian Parliament Barbara Prammer, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, Minister of State for European Affairs of Ireland Lucinda Creighton as Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek.
Parliamentarians will hear a report by OSCE PA Special Representative on Gender Issues Hedy Fry in a joint session of the committees on 24 February, followed by a discussion.
The OSCE PA will also discuss the organizational issues related to the events scheduled to be held in 2012.
