Department chief of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration: We have never carried out anti-Iran activity, and demand the same from Iran

Baku. Parvin Abbasov â€“ APA. â€œWe are establishing our foreign policy regarding Iran basing on neighbourliness, mutually useful cooperation. The main course of our diplomatic policy is not to interfere in each otherâ€™s internal affairs, not to damage each otherâ€™s interests in the relations with the foreign countries. Azerbaijanâ€™s Ministry of National Security has recently carried out successful operations to prevent undesirable actions, including attempted terrorist attacks planned in Azerbaijan by some groups related to Iran. As an â€œalternative measureâ€ Iran sent a note to Azerbaijan. This is undesired,â€ chief of public policy department of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov told APA.

Department chief said Azerbaijan is establishing its foreign policy only within the state interests, security.
â€œAzerbaijan has never used its foreign relations against Iran, or other neighboring states, nor has allowed using it. Therefore, these accusations are groundless,â€ he said.

Ali Hasanov did not agree to the views about the tension between the two countries.

â€œI would not say that the situation between the two countries is strained. But there are persons, groups attempting to strain the relations. This favors neither Iran, nor Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has always taken and will take into account Iranâ€™s interests. We share common history, religion with Iran, tens of millions of Azerbaijan live in this country. The interests of this country have always been in the focus of our attention, we have never violated these interests, nor have carried out anti-Iran activity. We demand the same from Iran and think that it will be so,â€ he said.
