Baku. Ramil Mamadli – APA. “Iran has no ground to file a note to Azerbaijan. I would like any side to avoid any step, which can overshadow Azerbaijan-Iran relations. Filing of such groundless note by Iran can overshadow traditional neighborhood relations between Azerbaijan and Iran”, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov told journalists, APA reports.

Ahmadov said that Iran was not only Azerbaijan’s neighbor, there were other factors determining the relations of the two countries: “One of these factors is our history. We are close to each other morally as a whole. Many ethnic Azerbaijanis are living in Iran and are Iranian citizenship and it also make our relations closer. Iran and Azerbaijan shouldn’t take steps which can damage these relations. Azerbaijan has repeatedly announced its interest in protection of peace, stability in the region. That is, the filing of such notes is inappropriate”.

Asked how he assesses the terrorist plans by persons linked with Iran’s intelligence agencies against Azerbaijani citizens, Ahmadov said terror is condemned unambiguously: “One of the commitments undertaken by Azerbaijan before its citizens is that every citizen must be protected from threats to their lives. On the other hand, Azerbaijan must take and takes step against any terrorist plan in its territory. We are against a terror all over the world. Azerbaijan is a country, which is threatened by terrorists. There is no need to explain that terror is dangerous for a person and society. In this context Azerbaijan expressed, expresses and will further express its position against terror”.
