Three companies have submitted bids for the tender to build a stadium in Tbilisi that meets UEFA’s Category IV requirements, intended for football and rugby matches, APA's local bureau reports, citing Georgia’s Business Media publication.
The bids received by the Municipal Development Fund belong to companies from Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani-invested company "Inshaatchi" LLC, together with Georgia's "Makro Construction," submitted a joint bid worth 789.4 million lari (USD 291.3 million).
Georgia’s largest stadium will be built on a 270,000 square meter area near Tbilisi International Airport. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 70,000 spectators. The company that wins the tender will be given 4 years and 3 months to construct the multifunctional sports arena. If the winner is announced this year, the construction work is expected to be completed in 2029-2030.
It should be noted that currently, Georgia’s largest stadium is the Boris Paichadze “Dinamo Arena” in Tbilisi, which has a capacity of approximately 55,000 spectators.
