Atletico Madrid coach responds to claims of 9-0 win over Qarabag

Atletico Madrid head coach Ernesto Valverde held a press conference ahead of the match against Qarabag, Apasport.az reports.

Valverde said that Qarabag have won 6 points from 2 games in the Champions League group stage: "We can clearly see that they are the leaders and we are the last. This is an opportunity for us to start collecting points and we want that."

Valverde laughed when asked by an Azerbaijani journalist about the claims that they would beat Qarabag 9-0, saying: "It's horrible that they are being told that we will win 9-0. I can't put it into words. We respect them. 1-0 would be normal. They are a team that plays freely, has a good midfield and attack. They have a lot of foreign players - Brazilians, Colombians, Poles... We have to be careful. They play well in attack. They are the champions of their country and will put pressure on them to win. They have rested more, they make frequent changes in their squad."

Note that the "Atletico" - "Qarabag" match will start on October 22 at 20:45 Baku time.
