Valentin Khodukin: How can one make wing play against Cristiano Ronaldo

AFFAâ€™s Ukrainian coach Valentin Khodukin underlined the importance of defence tactic against strong teams. â€œMore defenders should play against then teams like Portugal and Serbia to prevent goals. I made my recommendations on this. As an example I can show Russia vs England match in which the hosts had three defenders.
Besides Russia team midfielders were helpful to the defenders. This gap in Azerbaijan team was fatefulâ€.
Azerbaijan team played with different tactic schemes against Serbia and Portugal. But neither 3-5-2 nor 4-4-2 tactic schemes made us lose the match. Valentine Khodukinâ€™s club member Samir Abbasov led Azerbaijan teamâ€™s defence line in two matches with 8 goals conceded. Nevertheless the Ukrainian coach does not blame himself. â€œWhat should Samir have done? The whole burden fell on him. I do not think Aslan Karimov is a flank defender. How can one make wing play against Cristiano Ronaldo.
