Foreign brokers are expected to be allowed to connect directly to the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) and conduct trading without establishing a branch or representative office in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Management Board of the Baku Stock Exchange Ruslan Khalilov said during a panel discussion held as part of the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan is working on new legislation related to the securities market. The new framework is expected to cover issues such as expanding the range of investment products, different classes of shares, derivative financial instruments, and the rules governing their trading.
According to Ruslan Khalilov, one of the key innovations envisaged is the introduction of remote membership of the Baku Stock Exchange for foreign brokers. In this case, international brokers will be able to connect directly to the exchange's trading platform through technological and depository links without opening a branch or representative office in Azerbaijan.
He also noted that the Baku Stock Exchange is working to expand cross-border cooperation with Central Asian countries, share market data, and create a common database.
