Russian mining magnate Alisher Usmanov has acquired a stake in Arsenal from David Dein, the club’s former vice-chairman and a close ally of manager Arsene Wenger, APA-Sport reports. The sale of the 14.6pc stake for £75m may fuel speculation that Mr Usmanov, who has made much of his fortune in the steel industry, may eventually mount a takeover bid for the north London club. Mr Usmanov is leading a group of investors called Red & White Holdings that includes London-based investor Farhard Moshiri. Mr Dein will become chairman of Red & White. Thus Mr Usmanov became second Russian to buy English football clubs stake. The foreign tycoons acquired the English clubs stakes. “Aston Villa” (Randy Lerner, ABÅž), “Liverpool” (George Jillet and Tom Hiks, US), “Fulham” (Mahammad Al-Fayed, Egypt), “Portsmouth” (Alexander Gaidamak, Israel), “West Ham” (Eggert Magnusson, Iceland), “Manchester United” (Malcolm Glazer, ABÅž) and “Manchester City” (Taksin Chinavat, Thailand). /APA-Sport/
