"On average, 46% of the population in Azerbaijan has a bank account," Hurshid Rustamov, an economist at the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan, during his speech at the "High-Level Strategic Prioritization" seminar on the "Framework Document for Cooperation on Sustainable Development (2026-2030) between the UN and Azerbaijan", APA-Economics reports.
He said that 82% of people with higher education have a bank account.
“Only 36% of women with secondary education have a bank account. Among women in the lowest 40% of income groups, this figure is only 25%. This means that initiatives aimed specifically at low-income groups can be very effective for women's economic empowerment,” H. Rustamov added.
