"The Igdır–Nakhchivan natural gas pipeline, one of the key projects between the Turkish Court of Accounts and the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan, was realized through joint efforts. The project officially began last year with the signing of a protocol in Igdır. Within a one-year period, both supreme audit institutions successfully carried out their tasks," said Metin Yener, President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Türkiye during a media briefing in Nakhchivan, where the final reports of the parallel audit on the pipeline construction were presented, APA reports.
He noted that the project, implemented by BOTAS on the Turkish side and SOCAR on the Azerbaijani side, is not only a major undertaking between the two countries but also marks a first in terms of cooperation between their supreme audit institutions: "This strengthened bilateral relations even further. More importantly, it showcased the ability to carry out work jointly and present the results in line with international standards. This is a source of pride for both institutions. In today’s meetings with the Chairman of the Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts, we agreed to take this cooperation even further. We will welcome the Chairman to Türkiye in 15 days to sign a new cooperation agreement. In September, we will also share good news related to all Turkic republics. I’m very pleased to be in Nakhchivan and thank everyone for the warm hospitality."
