“At a time when transport routes are changing and interest in the Middle Corridor is increasing, the role of railways is becoming increasingly important,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at an event dedicated to Railway Workers’ Day on October 10, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, a modernized, up-to-date and efficient railway system allows Georgia to further strengthen its transit role.
The prime minister emphasized that the development of transport infrastructure is a key priority for Georgia and said that a total of USD 7 billion will be invested in this sector by 2032.
The head of government also added that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project has been completed and that this section of the railway is operating at full capacity.
