Public warning systems have been tested in Russia, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
Sirens sounded in the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Voronezh and other cities.
According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, scheduled tests of public warning systems will be held in all regions of Russia on October 9.
“The warning system is intended to immediately alert the public in the event of a natural or man-made threat or emergency.
During the test, electric sirens and loudspeakers are planned to be activated, while public television and radio broadcasts will be replaced with informational announcements,” the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.
