Last year, the average monthly nominal wage of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 8.1 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1,009.2 manat, APA-Economics reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as information and communications sectors of the economy.
It was noted that as of January 1, 2025, the number of employees working for wages in the country's economy, according to preliminary data, was 1,778.5 thousand people, of which 882.8 thousand worked in the state sector of the economy and 895.7 thousand in the non-state sector.
18.5 percent of those working for salary were engaged in trade; vehicle repair, 18.5 percent in education, 13.5 percent in industry, 8.5 percent in healthcare and social services, 6.6 percent in construction, 6.3 percent in public administration and defense; social security, 4.3 percent in transport and warehousing, 3.8 percent in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.7 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.2 percent in finance and insurance activities, and 15.1 percent in other sectors of the economy.
