On March 4, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), together with the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, held an Inception Workshop in Baku on the Phase 1 feasibility study for the Caspian Green Energy Corridor project, APA-Economics reports, citing the Asian Development Bank.
The event was assessed as an important milestone in advancing the first phase of the feasibility study aimed at establishing regional electricity connectivity in the Caspian Sea region.
Organized in the format of a roundtable and capacity-building seminar, the event brought together high-level government officials, electricity transmission system operators, energy and telecommunications regulators, development partners, and technical experts.
During the seminar, the parties held technical discussions on electricity demand forecasting, generation planning, renewable energy integration scenarios, grid studies and interconnection options, including subsea cable concepts. The discussions also covered telecommunications and energy system operations, regulatory issues, and the proposed roadmap for project implementation.
In addition, at the end of the seminar, agreement was reached on preparing the Phase 1 feasibility study report, as well as on data requirements, timelines, and next steps for preparing for the second phase of the study.
