AZN 557 mln-customs taxes and duties collected in Q1, 2012, in Azerbaijan

In January-June, 2012, AZN 557.2 mln customs taxes and duties were transferred to the state budget via Azerbaijanâ€™s State Customs Committee against AZN 555.0 mln budget forecast. The forecast was fulfilled at 100.4%. In general, budget revenues for the Committee for 2012 have been predicted at AZN 1.2 bn.

Chairman of te Committee Aydin Aliyev says â€˜One windowâ€™ system allowed the realize customs registration operations in a automatic forum, improve management at customs bodies by developing service level for foreign economic activity participants and individuals by minimizing the time spent to it. Besides, it allowed conducting customs payments by banks or plastic cards. Consequently, at present time, 97% of customs payments were organized in cashlessly.

Committee chairman noted that in Q1, 2012, struggle against smuggling at customs bodies, urgent measures were taken revelation of facts of tax evasion and law violation. That is, as a result of the measures taken in direction of struggle against law violations in customs sphere in Q1, 2012, nearly 8,237 facts have been revealed. Customs bodies revealed 37 facts on drug smuggling, 5.8 kg drug, 6.2 kg psychotropic substances were taken from turnover.

During the reporting period, 180 legal entities and 7,912 individuals on 8,119 administrative offenses were brought to responsibility. They were fined at AZN 563,000.

At the same time, 3 pieces of hunting weapons and 200 units of ammunition for them, 79 units of air weapons, firearms and 19 cartridges of 3 units, 8 units of cold steel, 5 tons of diesel fuel, large quantities of 780 pieces of mobile phone and other things were found and taken as a subject of violation. 767 l and 25,937 units of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products worth AZN 76.3 thousand were found as a result of preventive measures against illegal transfer of excise goods.
