Violent clashes occurred at the Ministry of Climate Crisis between seasonal firefighters and special police forces (MAT), resulting in at least four arrests. Police forces deployed tear gas inside the building to disperse the firefighters and clear the occupation, APA reports citing Greek media.
Two firefighters sustained injuries, including reports of beating and respiratory issues from the use of chemicals. They were transported by ambulance to Evangelismos Hospital, while another eight firefighters received first aid on-site for respiratory problems from two ambulances and a mobile unit without needing to be hospitalized. Additionally, 12 police officers were injured.
During the disturbances, MAT officers arrested journalist Giorgos Androutsos from “Rizospastis” outside the Ministry of Civil Protection while he was covering the incident.
