Oslo – APA. Former president of Finland Martti Ahtisaari received Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. APA reports that the Nobel gold medal and diploma were presented to the ex-president. Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja also attended the ceremony. Martti Ahtisaari will also get $1.23 million money prize. Ahtisaari was awarded for his merits in the settlement of international conflicts.
Martti Ahtisaari was awarded Nobel Peace Prize for the role he played in the solution to Kosovo conflict. Presenting peace prize to the ex-president caused serious discontent in Serbia and Russia. They consider it inadmissible to award the author of the plan separating Kosovo from Serbia.
