Brussels. Alexander Kin-APA. “An argument between Russia and Ukraine on gas transfer does not coincide with reputation of the countries”, Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, European Commission’s representative briefed, APA’s special correspondent in Brussels reports.
He stated that the problem remained without any solution every year.
“An analogical problem continues during winter season, when needs for natural gas increase. The case does not meet an image of gas exporter Russia and gas importer Ukraine”, he said.
Mr. Espuny underlined that representatives of European Commission’s Directorate-General for Transport and Energy had met with officials of organizations for energy of the two countries.
“European Commission urged both sides to find way out of situation soon. We hope that an argument between Russia and Ukraine will not impact on European gas transfer”, he added.
The diplomat stressed that the situation on European gas supply security would be assessed at the assembly of Gas Coordination Group on January 9.
