Diyarbakir – APA. One of the leaders of Kurdish separatists in Turkey, former MP Leyla Zana was sentenced. APA reports quoting Turkish news agencies that Leyla Zana was charged with propagating terrorist organization and committing a crime without being its member and Diyarbakir Court of Grave Crimes sentenced her to 10 years in jail.

Leyla Zana was elected to the Turkish parliament from Diyarbakir in 1991. In 1993 Zana and three more Kurdish MPs were sentenced to 15 years for taking oath in Kurdish in the oath-taking ceremony. Due to the demands and pressures of the European Union and other European structures she was released in 2004. Zana was awarded by the European Parliament and various European organizations. Leyla Zana is the honorable citizen of Paris and Geneva.
