Agreement signed on establishing NATO-Georgia Commission

Tbilisi â€“ APA. Framework agreement on establishing NATO-Georgia Commission was signed in Tbilisi. APA reports quoting Novosti-Gruziya agency that signing ceremony was held in the capital of Georgia with the participation of ambassadors of all NATO members. NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said the framework document of the NATO-Georgia commission gave access to new tools for further deepening the NATO- Georgia relationship.
â€œBuilding on the successes we’ve had in the Individual Partnership Action Plan and the Intensified Dialogue, the NATO-Georgia Commission allows us to meet in new formats and tackle new issues related to the NATO-Georgia relationship and the process of reform in Georgia. Foreign Ministers will make assessment in December summit and decision will be made to award Georgia membership action plan,â€ he said.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said NATO councilâ€™s meeting in Tbilisi was a clear sign and message of the solidarity and support. He praised establishment of NATO-Georgia Commission.
â€œThe relations between Georgia and NATO should be strengthened. We have chosen integration into NATO and we are moving concretely in this direction,â€ he said.
