Agreement signed on establishing NATO-Georgia Commission

Tbilisi – APA. Framework agreement on establishing NATO-Georgia Commission was signed in Tbilisi. APA reports quoting Novosti-Gruziya agency that signing ceremony was held in the capital of Georgia with the participation of ambassadors of all NATO members. NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said the framework document of the NATO-Georgia commission gave access to new tools for further deepening the NATO- Georgia relationship.
“Building on the successes we’ve had in the Individual Partnership Action Plan and the Intensified Dialogue, the NATO-Georgia Commission allows us to meet in new formats and tackle new issues related to the NATO-Georgia relationship and the process of reform in Georgia. Foreign Ministers will make assessment in December summit and decision will be made to award Georgia membership action plan,” he said.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said NATO council’s meeting in Tbilisi was a clear sign and message of the solidarity and support. He praised establishment of NATO-Georgia Commission.
“The relations between Georgia and NATO should be strengthened. We have chosen integration into NATO and we are moving concretely in this direction,” he said.
