Baku - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s existing infrastructure may be used for delivery of Turkmen gas to Europe, a source in energy sector of the country told APA-Economics.
According to the source, Turkmenistan is interested in delivery of its gas to Europe, however, this is a complicated process: “The matter is about transportation of 30-40 bcm of natural gas per year. However, there is not necessary system and infrastructure. The optimal version is usage of Azerbaijan’s existing infrastructure. Billion dollars must be spent for creation of such an infrastructure. Turkmenistan is not ready for this in the period of cheap oil. Therefore, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan may merge their offshore systems”.
According to another source, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are not negotiating to merge offshore systems: “There are some obstacles in this process, but we hope they will be eliminated”.
