Volume of gas in underground storage facilities in EU countries falls below 40%

The level of filling of underground gas storage facilities in the European Union countries has dropped below 40%, APA-Economics reports, citing the European Association of Gas Infrastructure Operators (Gas Infrastructure Europe, GIE).

According to the information, the level of filling of underground gas storage facilities in the EU countries is approximately 39.86% (in the corresponding period of last year it was 52.6% - ed.), which is 16.2 percentage points less than the average indicator of the last five years.

It was reported that currently, the total volume of gas in the storage facilities of the EU countries is about 44 billion cubic meters.

In general, during the heating season, since last year October 13, European countries have extracted about 52.5 billion cubic meters of gas from the storage facilities.

The transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has started since December 31, 2020.
