The East Zangezur Economic Region plays an important role in increasing the country’s green energy potential, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
A number of major projects based on renewable energy sources are being implemented in the territories liberated from occupation.
One of these projects is the 330 kV “Shafag” substation being constructed by AzerEnerji OJSC in the village of Soltanli in the Jabrayil district.
Director of the Karabakh Regional Electric Network of AzerEnerji OJSC Mirjalal Huseynov stated that important infrastructure projects have been implemented in the liberated territories to integrate bp’s 240 MW “Shafag” Solar Power Plant into the energy system.
According to him, a 330 kV digital substation has been built in Jabrayil, and a 7.5-kilometer double-circuit high-voltage transmission line has also been laid to the “Jabrayil” Energy Hub.
Mirjalal Huseynov noted that the substation is equipped with modern digital control systems, including a micro-SCADA dispatch system, and has been integrated into the central SCADA system.
He said that the main goal of the project is to increase the share of green energy, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen energy security.
It was reported that, in parallel, a new 220 kV substation was also built and completed to supply the Sangachal Terminal with green energy.
According to the information, the share of green energy in the country’s energy system has increased in recent periods, reaching 36–41 percent on some days.
It was also noted that, in line with the “Great Return” strategy, special importance is being attached to the employment of local personnel at energy facilities being built in the territories liberated from occupation.
