Oil and gas resources periodically turning into a tool for political processes harms energy security at the global level, said Samir Valiyev, the Deputy Minister of Energy during the SPECA Economic Forum, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, in recent years, the growing role of geopolitical factors in processes related to oil price changes and the instability observed in the oil market are example of this.

The Deputy Minister noted that in recent years, the role of natural gas in the transition to low-carbon energy is increasing, but matters such as energy security, diversification of sources and routes come to the fore here.

“Azerbaijan, which is a historical oil and gas country, is trying to take a multifaceted approach to the issue of energy security by adapting the energy policy to new challenges,” – Samir Valiyev said.
