Minister: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan plan to expand use of green energy

There is a very good mutual understanding and cooperation at the leadership level between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, told APA.

“This opens opportunities for cooperation at all levels, meaning between digital ministries. We are fully collaborating in terms of exchanging ideas and applying advanced practices,” the Minister noted.

He stated that both countries plan to expand the use of green energy to operate data centers more sustainably: “For example, Uzbekistan’s cooperation with Saudi Arabian Data Vault Company is a significant step toward establishing a 500-megawatt data center. These efforts enable international companies to utilize green energy resources.”

Sherzod Shermatov added that through joint efforts, the countries can find innovative solutions to prevent the effects of the climate crisis: “It is essential to ensure that digital initiatives contribute to net-zero commitments. Uzbekistan offers favorable opportunities for low-cost, accessible, and fully green energy solutions.”
