Azerbaijan is also implementing ambitious mega projects that increase the potential of renewable energy on a national and international scale in accordance with its development priorities as a "green growth country" and a supplier of green electricity and green gases by 2030, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov said during his speech at the Ministerial Dialogue: Scaling up Investment for Tripling Renewables and Doubling Energy Efficiency at COP29, APA reports.

He stated that the solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,250 MW, which will be commissioned by 2030, will increase the share of renewable energy in the installed capacity to 35.5%: "This not only updates our 30% target but also means that the share of solar and wind energy in our energy system will increase more than sevenfold. One of our main strategic goals during this period is to create an additional 5 GW of energy capacity and ensure its supply to Europe through the 'Caspian-Black Sea-Europe' and 'Azerbaijan-Turkey-Europe' corridors, as well as to establish a 'Green Energy Corridor Azerbaijan-Central Asia' for the flow of renewable energy from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. When these regional green energy corridors are interconnected and directed towards Europe, Azerbaijan will make a significant contribution by 2030 to the transition to green energy not only in our own country but also across a wide geographical area from Asia to Europe, helping to meet global commitments."
