Demand for Turkmen gas is increasing, Azerbaijan is also mong potential buyers, APA-Economics reports, citing a forecast by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the report, Turkmenistan’s gas export capabilities may expand in the coming years. This growth is linked to a recently signed gas export agreement with China, a gas supply agreement signed with Türkiye in February 2025, as well as increasing gas demand in Iran, Iraq, and Azerbaijan.
It is noted that negotiations are underway between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China regarding the construction of a fourth gas pipeline within the framework of the development of the “Galkynysh” gas field. If the project is implemented, the export capacity to China could increase from the current 40 billion cubic meters to 65 billion cubic meters.
