In accordance with an Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 19, 2024, September 20 will be annually celebrated as State Sovereignty Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
On September 19, 2023, an anti-terror operation was launched in the Garabagh economic region of Azerbaijan to counteract large-scale provocations, disarm the remnants of the Armenian armed forces, and restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the mentioned territories. The operation, which lasted a total of 23 hours and concluded on September 20, saw the valiant Azerbaijani Army fulfill all the tasks set for it with high professionalism. As a result of this significant Victory, the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan was fully restored.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, State Sovereignty Day will be a holiday that is considered a working day for now.
