The chief of the service noted that, 27627 foreigners have temporary registration. There are employees of the foreign companies, students, the guest and others among those foreigners. Expressing his attitude to the idea that the number of the migrants from Chechnya and Iraq after the conflicts happened in those countries has increased, Hadiyev confirmed the fact that the number of the Chechens has considerable increased after Chechen Wars I and II.
“Chechens sometimes appeal to the Committee on Work with refugees and displaced persons to get refugee status. In case that their appeal is rejected, they appeal to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. They get necessary documents after being registered there. We do not deport the persons having these documents. Simply, we insist on registering. UN deports those people to another country after some time. There are criminal elements among the Chechens who came to Azerbaijan after the conflict with Russia. We conduct probes into those peoples, he said. He also said that a couple, Turkish citizens engaged in missionary in Zagatala, have been detained recently.
“This couple was engaged in illegal religious campaign. We immediately prepared documents and deported them. We have not faced such problems so far. As for labor migrants, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection grants a license. The ministry should inform the Migration Service about the person, license period and person’s field. Then we determine migrant’s stay in the country, he said. The representatives of Migrant Service visited Moscow after the adoption of the new law of migrants in Russia and met with a number of officials.
“This issue will be solved. The international organizations are focusing on it, as well. The immigrants returning to their country have some difficulties in reintegration to the society. MIA is only responsible for documentation. Other relevant structures will deal with the rest. We will inform the police departments about those held accountable among CIS immigrants, he added.
The chief of the committee said that the service helps the Azerbaijani migrants legally. He said that as there is no need for visa for those who go to CIS countries, the service does not have full information about them.
“If our citizens face any problem abroad or they lose their documents, they appeal to our embassies. At the same time our embassies give information to our service and we help them, he added.
He also pointed out that majority of Azerbaijani citizens deported from foreign countries are the victims of human traffic.
“There are the victims of human traffic among those who come to Azerbaijan. Our duty is to reveal these facts. No-one of the victims has appealed to us up to now, Hadiyev said. /APA/
