State Committee: Establishment of the Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia is a needless step
In the statement appraising activity of All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora notes “it is a needless step to establish a new organization, while there is already a public organization that justified confidence of Azerbaijanis in Russiaâ€.
“The State Committee on Work with Diaspora considers that the establishment of the Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia is not serving to the unity and solidarity of our compatriots, regrets and has a negative opinion on this organization.
A group of Azerbaijanis living in Russia announced that they had established a new organization called Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia.
Abbas Abbasov, the former first Deputy Prime Minister, President of National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in Russia (Azerros) Soyun Sadikhov, president of Russian Notary Offices Guild Natig Aghamirov, Asif Maharramov, Rustam Ibrahimov, businessman Isgandar Khalilov and others are also represented at the newly established organization.
The new organization, which also includes member of the State Duma and former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Abdulatipov, was founded on September 28 and registered.
The main office of the newly established organization is located in the center of Moscow, at Krasnaya Pesnya str. 24.
The newly founded organization has already issued a statement inviting Diaspora organizations, all organizations in the regions to the Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia and to its Coordination Council, Lent.az reports.
The statement underlines more efficient solution of the problems of the Azerbaijanis in Russia, joint activity towards the solution of the existing problems.
Member of the Coordination Council of the newly established organization Soyun Sadikhov said to Lent.az that they had an idea to establish such kind of coordination organization earlier. “As you know, two Diaspora organizations All-Russian Azerbaijanis Congress and Federal National-Cultural Autonomy-Azerros are functioning in Russia. There are serious differences of opinions among Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in a number of regions of Russia. Sometimes these relations between heads of Diaspora organizations and All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress lead to hostility between them. We have established the organization to solve these problems and coordinate joint activity of Diaspora organizations.
As a respected person we have elected former first Deputy Prime Minister, businessman Abbas Abbasov as the head of the organization. Vahid Alakbarov, Natig Aghamirov, Rustam Ibrahimbayov, Isgandar Khalilov, Asif Maharramov, Telman Ismayiov and I have been elected as members of the Coordination Council.â€
According to Sadikhov, All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress representatives have also been invited to the first meeting of the Coordination Council. But All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress didn’t recognize newly founded Diaspora organization, they did not attend the first meeting of the Coordination Council. Sadikhov noted that personally he had sent an official invitation but was rejected by All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress again.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu was also aware of the new organization. “He also wished success to us in Diaspora activities,†said Sadikhov.
However, Secretary General of the All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress Mikayil Huseynov said that the aim and reason of establishment of this organization are not clear to him. “All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress was founded due to the efforts of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Vladimir Putin. This is the biggest Diaspora organization in Russia. It has justified confidence since it was established. It has realized different projects and took decisive steps. In short, the action plan claimed by the new organization was and is being carried out by All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress successfully.
Mikayil Huseynov noted that they didn’t get any invitation from the Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia. “Even if we had got such an invitation, we would not have considered it necessary to participate. Because we are a separate organization and are not going to participate in any Coordination Council.
Head of All-Russia Armenian Union and President of World Armenian Congress Ara Abramyan will meet with the leadership of Azerbaijani community in Russia on October 23.
According to Ara Abramyan this meeting will ease tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“We should cooperate with all the communities and it is not excluded that this meeting will help to solve some problems,†said Abramyan.
Soyun Sadikhov confirmed that the meeting will take place on October 23. All-Russia Congress said that the organization had not been invited to the meeting.
All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress was founded in 2001 and Mammad Aliyev has been chairing the organization since then.
