Head of Congress of Swedish Azerbaijanis: First of all the Azerbaijani Diaspora must achieve recognition by European parliaments of Khojaly tragedy as genocide

Emil Mirzayev, who has been living in Sweden since 2004, underlined that he faces difficulties in involving the Azerbaijani young people in the activity of the Diaspora.
â€œI have met young Azerbaijanis avoiding to say their nationality. After Azerbaijanâ€™s victory in Eurovision song contest, the interest of the young people in the activity of the Diaspora began to increase,â€ he said.

Emil Mirzayev said the main activity of the Congress of Swedish Azerbaijanis is to deal with the promotion of Azerbaijanâ€™s interests, especially concerning Nagorno Karabakh conflict, inform the community about the truths regarding Khojaly genocide.
â€œWe are doing our best to create Azerbaijani lobby inside the Swedish community. The Congress has started functioning recently and we consider that in order to enhance our activity we should involve the young Azerbaijanis in Sweden,â€ he said.

With this view Emil Mirzayev is going to make proposals in the third congress of the World Azerbaijanis. He said summer camps should be organized for the young Azerbaijanis living abroad so that they can know better the history and geography of their motherland. Head of the Diaspora said the main aim of the Diaspora organizations in Sweden and other countries must be to achieve recognition by local parliaments of Khojaly tragedy as genocide. The Congress of Swedish Azerbaijanis regularly holds meetings with the members of the Swedish parliament.
