Washington. Isabel Levine – APA. Less than a week before the World refugee day, June 20, approaches, Azerbaijani Diaspora in the US has started issuing letters and information kits to the US President Obama, the Congress and media outlets, reminding that over 1million Azerbaijanis remain refugees for more than 20 years now.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with neighboring Armenia left more than 1 million refugees and IDPs and these people want to go back on their lands, say Azeri Diaspora members in their letters. Besides that, as a result of NK occupation by Armenia, the Azerbaijani economy suffered $20 billion in damages, devastation of cultural heritage, they add.

The Azerbaijani-American community and the US Azeris Network (USAN) are calling upon the Obama administration and Congress for justice and requests help to resolve the NK conflict, restoration of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and safe return of all refugees to their homes.
