Baku – APA. The Azerbaijan Society of City University, Azerbaijan House and The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) jointly held an Azerbaijan Day at City University, London, on 2 February, TEAS told APA. This vibrant event attracted more than 100 guests, mostly comprising academic staff and students. All those present had the chance to experience Azerbaijani culture and history, together with enhancing their awareness of the country’s economic development during the past 20 years of independence.

The Azerbaijan exhibition stand showcased images of the glorious natural landscapes and the people that live amongst them. The guests also had the chance to browse through brochures and books on various elements of business and culture, together with viewing videos on cultural traditions, such as carpet-weaving. In addition, small souvenirs and books promoting Azerbaijani culture were distributed to the guests.

The Azerbaijan Society of City University is a recently-established group comprising Azerbaijani students studying at the University. It aims to organize a program of events to promote the country amongst the cosmopolitan mix of students.

The Azerbaijan House Culture and Friendship Centre in London was launched by a group of Azerbaijani intellectuals, young professionals and students living in the UK. It serves to promote cultural activities and friendship between Azerbaijanis and the wider community.

TEAS is one of the most prominent and active Diaspora organizations in the UK. During the past two years, it has supported numerous Azerbaijani student organizations in the UK, Germany and other European countries.
