Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. A final ceremony of Baku International Jazz Festival was held at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall on October 27, APA reports. Branford Marsalis Group performed a concert in the final ceremony. Marsalis is a famous tenor- and soprano- saxophonist and representative of post-mainstream and fugue. He worked together with famous Miles Davis in 1984, accompanied Sting together with Kenny Kirkland, Omar Hakem and bass-guitarist Daryl Johns (album – The Dream of The Blue Turtles). Marsalis joined Herbie Hancock’s quartet in 1986 and formed his group in the middle 1980s. The jazzmen performed popular jazz pieces for the Baku audience. The journalists were allowed to cover his performance only three minutes. Participants of the festival, as well as Minister of Culture and tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev attended the final ceremony.

The one-week international jazz festival was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism within the Baku – Islamic Culture Capital Program. Winner of Montrose Jazz Festival, Azerbaijani jazzman Isfar Sarabski (piano), Salman Gambarov and Emil Afrasiyaboglu’s groups, Richard Bona, Branford Marsalis (USA), DZihan & Kamien (Austria), Jazzinho (Portugal), “Hard Jazz Knights” (Israel), as well as participants of the Baku International Mugham Festival Vasumathi Badrinathan (India), Amir Elsaffari (USA) and others performed concert programs within the Baku International Jazz Festival.
