International Islamic Culinary Festival in Baku finalized

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. The International Islamic Culinary Festival within the framework of Baku â€“Islamic Culture Capital 2009 was finalized in Baku. Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev, the president of the World Association of Cooks Societies Gissur Gudmundsson, president of the International Organization of Folk Art Carmen Padilla, Director of the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center Tahir Amiraslanov and representatives of 14 countries attended the final ceremony on Friday. Minister Garayev called the festival very important event. â€œI am happy that such festivals are held in our capital. It is very important and valuable ceremony for us. Every country is known for its culinary and it has to demonstrate, to popularize itâ€.

Director of the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center Tahir Amiraslanov presented the prizes. The international jury announced Turkish cooks a winner of the festival. Minister Garayev presented the Grand Prix and the ministryâ€™s Cup to the Turkish team.

Totally 44 gold medals were won. Azerbaijani cooks won 11, Turkish â€“ 7, Belarusian -5, Serbian â€“ 5, Iranian â€“ 5, Ukrainian- 3 and Russian â€“ tow gold medals. Other countries were awarded with silver and bronze medals.

The national cups were presented to the Azerbaijani team by president of the International Organization of Folk Art Carmen Padilla.
