Outstanding Hungarian sculptor was World War II prisoner in Sumgayit

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary held a meeting with outstanding Hungarian sculptor Lazlo Gombosh, said Ambassador Hasan Hasanov in his letter to the Sumgayit City Executive Power.

Sumgayit city authorities told APA that Lazlo Gombosh addressed the Azerbaijani embassy two years ago and said that he was a World War II prisoner in Sumgayit and participated in the construction work in the city. He remembered Arshin Mal Alan operetta he listened in the camp. Then he remembered Azerbaijani Doctor Badalova, who treated him when he was seriously ill. The sculptor said Badalova saved his life and he was thankful to her that he is alive now.

Then videotapes and photos of contemporary Sumgayit City sent by the head of executive power Vagif Aliyev were shown at the event. The materials were presented to Gombosh.
