Baku-APA. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Monday called for intensified efforts to improve road safety and prevent traffic accidents in Ukraine, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"Traffic rules are written with blood, so it is unacceptable to violate them," Azarov said during a visit to a Kiev driving school.
Traffic accidents annually kill about 5,000 people and injure or disable thousands more in Ukraine, Azarov said
Traffic accidents are estimated to cost the East European country around 3 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP).
