Mass poisoning has occurred at 20 kindergartens in Tbilisi, APA's Georgia bureau reports.

At this stage, 55 children and one kindergarten teacher are showing symptoms of poisoning.

The affected individuals have sought medical assistance at six clinics in Tbilisi.

Georgia's Ministry of Finance Investigation Service has launched an investigation into the incident under the article concerning the production and sale of food products that pose a danger to human life and health.

As part of the investigation, more than 50 legal representatives of the children and employees of medical institutions have already been questioned. Searches have been conducted at four kindergartens and three companies supplying food products to preschool educational institutions.

The intoxication is suspected to have been caused by a bacterial infection originating from food products consumed at the kindergartens. Expert examinations will determine which specific product caused the poisoning.

The Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency said that, as a precautionary measure against epidemiological risks, educational activities have been suspended at seven kindergartens in the city, while the remaining 183 kindergartens continue to operate.
