United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday he faces a "big" decision over whether to "annihilate" Iran or seek an end to the conflict, APA reports citing Axios.
Speaking in an interview with Axios, Trump stated that he expects to hear from regional allies at next week's United Nations meeting on what the war's next steps should be. The president revealed that Iran is still in "direct contact" with the United States and stressed that Iranians still want to reach a deal.
Trump also said he is satisfied that no ships have sailed to Iran since the naval blockade began. "They tried, and we blew them up," he added. The US president also noted that he "may" meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York next week.
