US Secretary of State Marco Rubio prevented an agreement from being reached during talks with an Iranian delegation in Pakistan in April, APA reports, citing NBC News.
According to the report, US Vice President JD Vance traveled to Pakistan in April to hold direct negotiations. The prospects for making progress at the meeting were considered high.
However, during the meeting, which lasted several hours, the US delegation began to suspect that the Iranian side was trying to change the preliminary terms of the agreement.
During a break in the meeting, US representatives contacted Marco Rubio for further instructions. According to the source, Rubio said there would be no agreement.
NBC News noted that Rubio remains a "hidden hand" on Iran and prefers to stay "in the shadows" in his activities on the issue.
