Several major roads will be open to traffic at certain hours during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to ensure the convenience of city residents and drivers, Baku City Circuit told APA.
In addition, a new transit corridor will be established from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets toward Bulbul Avenue.
Traffic restrictions will also be imposed in certain areas in connection with the race.
The initial restriction will take effect at 21:00 on September 19. It will apply to the section of Pushkin Street at its intersections with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. The restriction will remain in place until the end of the event.
According to the Traffic Management Plan, the streets along the Baku City Circuit and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on September 20 until 08:00 on September 28. Entry to and exit from restricted zones will only be possible with a "Residential Access Permit."
At the same time, based on the past three years' experience, some major roads will be open to traffic at certain hours during the race for the convenience of city residents and drivers.
Thus, on September 21 and 22, the entry and exit points listed below will be open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 18:00 to 20:00 in the evening, with stopping and parking prohibited.
On September 23, the aforementioned roads will be open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 20:00 to 22:00 in the evening.
Entry points:
From Salyan Highway toward Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Circle;
From M. Lermontov Street toward UN 50th Anniversary Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;
From S. Vurgun Street toward U. Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;
From Bulbul Avenue toward Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;
From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets toward Khagani Street;
From the intersection of U. Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets toward Bulbul Avenue.
Exit points:
From Neftchilar Avenue toward Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall and Crescent Mall;
From Istiglaliyyat Street toward Azerbaijan Avenue;
From Neftchilar Avenue toward Azneft Circle, Deniz Mall and Salyan Highway.
During the specified period, vehicle movement, except for public transport and heavy goods vehicles, will be ensured through designated transit corridors.
While the transit corridors are open, parking, passenger boarding and alighting will not be permitted, except in emergencies. The speed limit in the transit corridors will be 50 km/h.
Note that the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held on September 24–26 this year.
