Anthony Albanese has been evacuated from his official Canberra residence due to a security threat, APA reports, citing The Guardian.
The prime minister was moved from The Lodge to another location on Tuesday evening while an investigation was carried out, Guardian Australia has been told.
An Australian Federal Police spokesperson said they were alerted to an alleged security incident at about 6 pm.
“A thorough search of a protection establishment was undertaken and nothing suspicious was located,” a statement said.
“There is no current threat to the community or public safety.
“Further information will be provided at an appropriate time.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Albanese recorded an hour-long YouTube interview with Nine journalist Karl Stefanovic at The Lodge.
