Baku-APA. At least four security personnel and 15 militants were killed in clashes in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region of Khyber Agency, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to the reports, the clashes started when security forces launched an operation named Khyber-2 on Friday night in Zao Kharmatang area to clear the region from the militants.
Security forces faced resistance when they started a search operation in the area that turned into armed clashes that killed four security personnel and 15 militants while leaving many militants injured.
The security sources said that the operation is also in progress in Surgarh and Shergarh while most of the key areas which served as passage for insurgents had been cleared. At least two hideouts of the terrorists were also destroyed so far in the operation. Khyber Agency is one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions of Pakistan near Afghanistan border, and it has been considered the stronghold of militants.
