Ongoing ceasefire talks are nailing down ‘final details’: Qatari FM spokesman

Qatari Foreign Minister spokesman Majed al-Ansari is giving an update on ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations, APA reports citing Al Jazeera.

“I can confirm that the talks are going on at the highest level here in Doha as we speak right now,” al-Ansari said at a press briefing.

“We do believe that we (Qatar) were able, through negotiations and through our partners in Egypt and the United States, to minimise a lot of the disagreements between both parties. The talks that are ongoing now are on the final details of reaching an agreement,” he said.

However, al-Ansari cautioned against setting expectations too high until there is a formal ceasefire announcement.

“We do believe we are at a developed stage, we do believe we are at a final stage, but obviously until there is an announcement, there will be no announcement. Therefore we shouldn’t be overexcited about what’s happening right now. But certainly we are hopeful.”
