An elderly man was killed after being struck by lightning during a storm in the Elmadağ district of the Turkish capital Ankara, APA's Türkiye bureau reports.
Under the influence of cool and rainy weather moving in from the Balkans, heavy rainfall and storms have been affecting many parts of Türkiye, including Istanbul and Ankara. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued warnings for 35 provinces.
In Ankara's Mamak district, heavy rain caused a road to collapse, and a car fell into the sinkhole. The wall of a primary school collapsed, while floodwaters swept away couriers' motorcycles. An underpass on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the Altındağ district was also flooded.
In Istanbul's Güngören district, an underpass was inundated by floodwaters.
