In a message posted on X on Thursday, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran stated: “The United States soils its hands with a new crime every day; the attack on the residential homes of civilians on Qeshm Island is a continuation of the atrocities in Minab and Lamerd," Borna News reports.
"Americans have grown accustomed to making up for the slaps they receive on the battlefield by spilling the blood of the innocent. They will pay the price,” he added.
The remarks followed a US airstrike that targeted two residential homes in the Chah Tangu neighborhood of Qeshm Island with heavy bombs. The attack martyred three members of a family, a father, a mother, and their two-year-old child, while wounding other children from the same family.
This criminal assault forms part of a consistent pattern of US aggression against civilian areas in southern Iran. Previous US-Israeli strikes on an elementary school in Minab claimed the lives of large numbers of civilians, including children, while attacks on residential areas in Lamerd using advanced missiles killed students, workers, and other non-combatants.
The February 28 strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab occurred on the first day of the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and is considered the war's deadliest attack on civilians. Iranian officials put the death toll at 168, including 120 students and 26 teachers. More than 110 people were wounded.
On February 28, a sports hall in Lamerd in southern Iran was attacked by the US while a women's volleyball team was using the facility, killing at least 21 people, including 4 children, and injuring 100 people.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that such deliberate targeting of residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure reveals the true nature of the US-led war of aggression launched against the Islamic Republic.
While Iranian Armed Forces continue to deliver precise and legitimate retaliatory operations against military targets and US bases in the region, Washington has resorted to cowardly attacks on innocent families in a desperate attempt to offset its successive battlefield failures.
Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf’s firm warning reflects the Iranian nation’s unwavering determination to hold the United States accountable for its ongoing war crimes. The pure blood of the martyred civilians will not be forgotten, and the aggressors will inevitably face the consequences of their crimes against the people of Iran.
