"Neither Hezbollah represents the interests of Lebanon, nor Hamas the interests of the Palestinians," Tzipi Livni, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, said at the panel discussion held within the 11th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
"Calling Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas proxies of Iran, Tzipi declared that Iran uses them in the region and added that "Iran is a threat to other pragmatic countries in the region."
"Hamas does not express the people of Palestine. It is just an ideology. This ideology is also fed by Iran. Israel-Palestine issue has been continuing for years. And this shows that unity of countries against Iran doesn't promise anything for the conflict," the former head of MFA emphasized.
Mrs. Livni noted that when Hamas came to power in 2006 no one opposed it: "Hamas takes a destructive position. Now is the right time for Egypt and the countries of the region to take a radical step and initiate peace."
