5 injured in factory explosion in S. Korea

Five workers were injured as an explosion occurred at a factory, run by the South Korean steelmaker POSCO, APA reports citing Xinhua.

Two explosions broke out in five minutes from about 1:14 p.m. local time at the steel company's plant in Gwangyang, some 420 km southwest of the capital Seoul.

Five employees working at the factory were wounded and taken to nearby hospitals.

The fire was put out some 50 minutes after firefighters and POSCO security officials attempted to extinguish it.

The exact cause of the accident had yet to be determined, but it was reported that the explosion took place while testing an unused waste heat generator.
