U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul discussed the situation in Ukraine in a telephone conversation and expressed support for a lasting settlement of the conflict, State Department Press Secretary Tommy Pigott said, APA reports.
"They discussed the importance of a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine," reads a written statement released by Pigott following Rubio and Wadefoul's conversation.
"They also reaffirmed the shared commitment of the United States and Germany to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to ensuring that Iran never develops or acquires a nuclear weapon," the US State Department spokesperson added. He did not provide any details of the two ministers' conversation.
